Invested In The Communities We Call Home

The SWLA Injury Attorneys law firm was founded by attorneys Mike Williamson, Rachel Couvillion, and Jason Bell based on a shared belief that the people of Lake Charles and all of Louisiana deserve legal counsel they can trust to put them first. This is not only a foundational principle of our law practice, but a guiding light in all we do.

Although our community has experienced severe hardships over the past several years, we have also shown our strength, unity, and resilience in times of adversity. At SWLA Injury Attorneys, we are committed to investing in the communities we call home through sponsorships, philanthropic endeavors, and community outreach. We are proud to call Lake Charles home and invite you to join us at our next community event!

SHHS Lady Broncos Soccer Sponsor | 2024 Season

We are proud to be Game Day Sponsors for Sam Houston High School’s Lady Broncos season for the second year in a row. The Lady Broncos have been working hard in the off-season to prepare both their bodies and minds for success on and off the field. We are so proud of their hard work and dedication, and we are honored to once again support the team in their efforts to make it to playoffs and beyond. Go Lady Broncos!

Bowling for Kids’ Sake | August 17, 2024

The team at SWLA Injury Attorneys “rocked out” for a good cause at this year’s Battle of the Bands-themed Bowling for Kids’ Sake event. We wore our best 80’s rock band t-shirts and had a ball bowling for, well, kids’ sake!

As always, all proceeds from the event go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Louisiana in support of their mission to help kids right here at home. Our community truly showed up in support of this incredible organization, raising more than $134,000 to support BBBS SWLA’s youth mentoring programs.

CPSB Teacher Wishlist Sponsors | August 2024

We love our CPSB teachers! When DeWanna’s Community Closet posted local classroom supply wishlists, we jumped at the opportunity to support the teachers who mean so much to the future of our community. SWLA Injury Attorneys was able to fulfill the classroom wishlists of five deserving teachers. We wish all teachers and students a fun and fruitful year of learning!

2024 Travis “Bowie” Andrepont Scholarship Winners

Congratulations to Hadlee Mazilly, Kamryn Mitchell, and Scotti Christerson, our 2024 recipients of SWLA Injury Attorneys Travis “Bowie” Andrepont scholarship!
We awarded each of these DeQuincy High School seniors with $1,000 scholarships based on their grade point average and essay submissions, judged by the widow of the late Travis “Bowie” Andrepont, Paiton Mire, as well as Bowie’s former English teacher, Sarun Keller Wamsley.
After working with Paiton Mire on Bowie’s case we were moved to make a commitment to fund this scholarship. We are honored to continue this yearly scholarship in memory of Bowie and to invest in the bright minds of SWLA.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Louisiana

We are proud to be a 𝙋𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙄𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧 level sponsor for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Louisiana! This incredible organization invests in the most important members of our community—our kids. With their mission “to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth,” BBBS of Southwest Louisiana is making a difference in lives of our children and the future of our communities one Big-Little match at a time. Donations to BBBS of Southwest Louisiana support the organizations mission by funding the staff, resources, training, and facilities to run and even expand their various youth programs. In 2022, 93% of program participants improved or maintained grades and academic performance, 95% graduated from high school, and 90% avoided the juvenile justice system. Perhaps the most heart-warming statistic of all: 95% felt they had a special adult in their corner. Visit https://www.bbbsswla.org/ to donate or get involved.

Heart of Atchafalaya Fall Fest
| October 28, 2023

All proceeds from the Heart of Atchafalaya Fall Fest in Breaux Bridge are invested back into the Butte La Rose community to preserve and upgrade properties, playgrounds, and landscaping around the area. While SWLA Injury Attorneys proudly sponsored the event, Rachel had all the fun! From the Black Pot Wild Game Cook Off to trick-or-treating to live performances by local musicians, there was no shortage of family-friendly entertainment—and all for a great cause.

Lawyers In Libraries
| October 23 – 29, 2023

Every year, the Louisiana Stata Bar Association hosts the Lawyers in Libraries event in celebration of National Pro Bono week. Both Mike and Jason volunteered to participate in this year’s Ask-A-Lawyer Consultations at Epps Library in Lake Charles. They each spent two hours meeting with patrons to answer their civil legal questions and connect them with the right resources.

Bags & Brew Cornhole Tournament
| October 21, 2023

Our attorneys, staff, and families spent the day at The Stadium Sports Grill in Deridder where we tried our hand at sinking a few beanbags to raise funds for one of our favorite non-profit organizations, BBBS of Southwest Louisiana. All in good fun and for a good cause, the proceeds raised from this event will be used to fund the youth mentoring programming in Beauregard Parish.

McNeese Cowboy Gallop 5K
| October 7, 2023

It was a beautiful day for a 5k on October 7. While Mike and Jason have been known to lace up their sneakers and hit the asphalt, today they manned the hydration station at the Cowboy Gallop 5k. Along with Mike’s kids, they happily handed out water to runners during this event benefiting the McNeese Track & Field teams.

Bowling for Kids’ Sake
| August 19, 2023

SWLA Injury Attorneys had a blast at BBBS of Southwest Louisiana’s largest annual fundraising event. Held at Petro Bowl in Lake Charles, this event helps support the BBBS Summer Mentoring Academy program. This program provides area families a safe and educational environment for kids throughout the summer months. Our four teams, each captained by one of our paralegals, hit the lanes as the Courtroom Crushers, The Empire STRIKES Back, The Alley Advocates and Lawsuit Launchers. Gutter balls or not, we all felt like winners after helping to raise money for a cause close to our hearts.
